Bottlepay is now closed

We’re very sorry to say that the Bottlepay consumer app is now closed. Whilst we remained well-funded, our wider group made the decision to focus on other projects.

Are my funds safe?

Yes. In accordance with the closure process set out in our customer agreement and our customer notification dated 22nd May 2023, we closed the Bottlepay consumer app as of 24th July 2023.

In line with our customer agreement and as advised in our customer notification dated 22nd May 2023, any Bitcoin left in your account was converted into fiat currency on or around the 24th July at the market rate available to us at the time. Bottlepay accepts no liability for any losses or tax consequences resulting from such conversion.

Should you not have previously arranged to have your final account closed and transferred, any funds that remained held continue to be held and safeguarded by our fiat partners, who continue to operate as usual. In the UK this is Modulr FS Limited where your funds are held in segregated accounts and the full value safeguarded in line with the Electronic Money Regulations 2011. In Europe this is Modulr Finance B.V., a company registered in the Netherlands where your funds will be held in segregated accounts and the full value safeguarded in line with the Financial Supervision Act.

Should you have any questions relating to your fiat balance, you can contact Modulr customer services here.

I need a transaction statement, how do I get one?

Transaction statements are available on request from our solvent administrator Interpath. You can contact them at [email protected].

And finally…

We’ve loved every minute of running Bottlepay, and we’re incredibly grateful to you, the customers who let us do it for as long as we did.

We wanted to offer you a safe, efficient place to get your Bitcoin and use it for payments, and we’re really sorry to put you through the inconvenience of having to leave us.

We can’t make recommendations about what to do with your Bitcoin - whether to find another custodial wallet, custody it yourself, or convert it to fiat and withdraw to your bank account. If you are going to use another custodial wallet, though, we recommend you do your diligence on the provider first.
